Age-Friendly Ajax Steering Committee Overview
An age-friendly community is one that promotes active aging by ensuring policies, programs, services, and spaces are designed to support and enable older adults to remain safe, enjoy good health, stay connected and fully participate in all aspects of community life.

The Committee will be responsible for the development and implementation of the Age-Friendly Ajax Community Plan including:
- Make recommendations to Town staff on the development and implementation of the Age-Friendly Ajax Community Plan.
- Make recommendations to Town staff based on input received from residents and stakeholders to improve strategies, policies, programs, and services through an age-friendly lens.
- Engage Council, other organizations, and the community in the work of the Steering Committee.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Age-Friendly Ajax Community Plan, tracking and reporting on the progress of objectives and deliverables.
- Support grant applications that enhance age-friendly community planning through the provision of letters of support and recommendations to Town staff.
- Promote age-friendly initiatives within the Town of Ajax through public outreach, education, and special events.
Length of Term and Commitment:
- 3-year term: November 2023 to October 2026
- Monthly Steering Committee Meetings: 2nd Tuesday of the month; 2 to 3:30 p.m.
- Committee breaks for July & August
- Participation in community outreach initiatives (e.g., age-friendly focus groups, open houses, community events, etc.)
