Ajax Amateur Photography Contest Application – Spring 2024

Brought to you by the Older Adult Task Force and Ajax Public Library Older Adults Advisory Committee.

What type of camera will you be using?

Category/themes the contest is accepting

  • NATURE:  anything in nature. trees, plants, animals, wild birds, flowers etc
  • ARCHITECTURE: man-made structures, buildings, towers, bridges etc 
  • PORTRAITS: humans.   i.e. kids playing,  people at an event, person playing a sport etc
  • PICTORIAL: anything that does not fit in the other categories.  i.e. dogs, cats, food, house plants etc

Please note: The staff and immediate family members of the Ajax Library Board, the Ajax Public Library, the Older Adults Advisory Committee, the Town of Ajax Recreation & Culture Department, and the Town of Ajax Older Adults Task Force are not eligible to enter.

When submitting your photos;

  • Please submit your photos in jpeg format using any of the options provided
  • Uploading them to a USB drive and dropping them off at the Ajax Community Centre or Ajax Public Library
  • Upload photos directly as part of the application. Maximum file upload size is 2MB
  • If you are having issues uploading photos via the application, you may email them to
  • Applicants can only apply once and are asked to submit two photos as part of their applications
  • All images submitted should have a title & category included

Allowed extensions pdf, doc, docx, xls, xlsx, jpg, jpeg, gif, png, tif

Contest runs until July 31 at 5 p.m.


Other requirements:

  • Open to Ajax residents over the age of 55 years.
  • Entries submitted must be original works (no copies or works by other visual artists, whether paintings, photographs, illustrations or photographic reproductions).
  • Decisions on selected exhibitions and timing will be made by a Selection Committee and communicated to all applicants/artists. The Selection Committee reserves the right of final decision on the suitability of subject matter.
  • Photographs are not to be digitally edited or altered unless to be resized for submission purpose.
  • Photos are to be current and taken within the year (August 2023 to July 2024) 

Collection of Personal Information

Personal information collected on this form is collected under the Municipal Act, S.O.2001, c.25, and will  be used for the purpose of program registration, payment, aggregate statistical reporting and allocation of staff resources.
